About

Silvia De Teresa is a Spanish pianist, performance maker, educator and producer based in The Hague (NL). Driven by a desire to reimagine how music and art can be experienced, she engages the piano as both material and metaphor in performances that intertwine sound, movement, and collective presence. Her collaborative and process-based practice explores shared creative agency as a means to generate meaningful social impact.

As an artist, she has performed at venues and festivals including L’Auditori (Barcelona), Paradiso (Amsterdam), Holland Festival, Düsseldorf Festival, Filmhuis Den Haag, On Site - On Air Radio Art Festival, Theater De Regentes, and Korzo. She is also an assiduous improviser at Sonology Electroacoustic Ensemble and at iii’s Raw Dates (The Hague). In the 2024–25 season she presented three performances at HaagsPianoHuis and co-curated the series Can You Hear That?!. She presented her research Sculpting music performances: About choreomania and the process of shaping a performance at the European Platform for Artistic Research in Music 2025 in Tallinn.

Her involvement in socially engaged projects is recurrent: co-creating an EP with The Mystifiers Collective (Amsterdam), participating in the community musical theatre Onze Silveren Stem, and facilitating creative processes with children with special educational needs.  She has also trained under Karine Guizzo in contemporary dance and performed in two of Guizzo’s site-specific public-space projects in The Hague.

Silvia is a classically-trained pianist with more than 10 years of experience in teaching both at musical institutions and private lessons. Her goal when teaching is to instill a love and joy for music in her students while also encouraging them to reach their highest potential.

Pushed by her artistic profile, she brings creativity and fresh perspectives to the classroom. She has spent the past two years working with children with special educational needs. This experience has enhanced her ability to manage challenging situations with patience and creativity. Most importantly, it has reinforced the value of focusing on the joy of the learning process as much as on the outcomes.

As a producer, Silvia has worked as Artist Liaison and Residency Coordination team at the DOOR Foundation in Amsterdam in 2024, at Barcelona Arts Summer School 2025, and also lead two Erasmus+ exchange community projects in 2017 and 2018, involving musicians from France, Italy, Bosnia, Serbia, Kosovo and Spain, among others.

Silvia demonstrated exceptional problem-solving skills blending analytical acumen with a natural creative instinct. Her ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics was particularly noteworthy. […] Her approachable demeanour, empathetic communication, style and genuine enthusiasm for collaboration make her not only a capable colleague but a pleasure to work with.
